CNBC.com ME Wastler departs

Allen Wastler 2Allen Wastler, the managing editor of CNBC.com for the past eight years, has left the business news network, a spokesman confirmed to Talking Biz News.

“We wish him the best and thank him for all his quality contributions,” said the spokesman.

The interim managing editor is Jeff Nash, who has been deputy managing editor for the past two years.

Prior to joining CNBC.com, Wastler was managing editor of CNNMoney.com, a joint venture between CNN and Time Inc, where he was responsible for all editorial and content production. He is currently a board member of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

Before his tenure as managing editor at CNNMoney.com, Wastler was the managing editor of CNNfn.com where he headed all editorial operations for the site. Wastler was also a regular commentator on CNN’s weekend business shows and appeared frequently on various CNN networks to comment on breaking business news events.

Nash joined CNBC Digital from Dow Jones, where he was editor of SmartMoney.com and personal finance editor of the Wall Street Digital Network.

CNBC’s digital operation posted its best May with 18.6 million unique visitors, up 35 percent compared to last year at this time, according to the May 2015 comScore Multi-platform Report US.

CNBC is the No. 8 business and financial news site in terms of visitors. Yahoo Finance is No. 1 with 54.9 million unique visitors.
