Chicago Trib biz editor leaves for Bloomberg job

December 19, 2008

Jim Kirk, the associate managing editor for business news at the Chicago Tribune, is leaving the paper for a job in Bloomberg News‘ Washington bureau, where he will oversee coverage of the White House and Congress.

Phil Rosenthal of the Tribune writes, “The Tribune did not immediately name a successor.

“Kirk, who grew up in south suburban Dolton, joined the Tribune in June 1997 as a marketing and advertising writer. He served as a columnist and business editor before his appointment to the business section’s top job in February 2005.

“A graduate of Illinois State University, Kirk previously was a columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times and Midwest managing editor for Adweek magazine.”
