BusinessWeek and Bloomberg Television have first collaboration

February 12, 2010

Kevin Allocca of TVNewser reports Friday that Bloomberg Television and BusinessWeek magazine, which Bloomberg acquired late last year, have collaborated for the first time on a major story.

Allocca writes, “Bloomberg BusinessWeek had an exclusive sit-down interview with President Obama that ran today, and BusinessWeek reporters have been appearing on BloombergTV to discuss the story all week. Al Hunt, who was was among the reporters who took part in the interview, has more tonight on his show ‘Political Capital’ at 6:30pmET.”

The interview was a Bloomberg BusinessWeek interview for print — the issue hits news stands today. The reporters who interviewed the president were “Political Capital” host Hunt, White House correspondent Julianna Goldman, Bloomberg News Washington Bureau Chief Michael Tackett and Bloomberg BusinessWeek editor Josh Tyrangiel.

Tyrangiel appeared on Bloomberg Television this morning to talk about the print piece.

“We were originally scheduled for about anywhere from 16 to 20 minutes, which in presidential terms is kind of an eternity,” said Tyrangiel on Bloomberg TV. “It’s a long time. But the president had a very serious message he wanted to get out.  He used a couple of the early questions to really filibuster a little bit on that so he gave us about double the amount of time we were expecting.”
