Business Insider headed to Italy, Japan and Africa

Business InsiderBusiness Insider will open new sites in Italy, Japan and Africa in the coming months, reports Joe Pompeo of Politico.

Pompeo writes, “The Italian site, headquartered in Milan and set to go live November 28, will launch in a licensing partnership with the Italian media conglomerate Gruppo Espresso.

“The Japanese edition, slated for a Jan. 16 debut, is a licensing deal with Mediagene Ltd, the company behind the Japanese versions of Gizmodo and Digiday. The African site is in ‘final negotiations,’ said CEO Henry Blodget.

“Business Insider, like other digital publications, has been exporting its brand around the globe since its acquisition last year by the German media giant Axel Springer. It also has launched licensed editions in Poland, France and the Netherlands, as well as a fully owned and operated site in the U.K.”
