Burlington biz editor to take over editorial page

Aki Soga, the business editor of the Burlington Free Press in Vermont, is going to become the head of the paper’s editorial page, according to a short item in the paper.

A short story stated, “Soga succeeds Susan Reid, who is resigning.

“Soga, 48, business editor at the Burlington Free Press for 10 years, will take over as editor Monday. He has been employed with the Free Press for 15 years in a variety of jobs, including staff writer for the Business and Living sections.

“‘Aki knows this community and state, having worked for a long time as a writer and editor,’ Townsend said. ‘He will do a good job in stimulating a community conversation.’

“Soga begins a two-year term Jan. 1 as vice president of Unity Journalists of Color Inc., an alliance of the four major minority journalists associations, and is a past national vice president for print of the Asian American Journalists Association.”
