Louisville native Caitlin Bowling, who has covered the local restaurant and retail scene since 2014, will become news editor at Insider Louisville starting July 1.

As news editor, she will tackle a hybrid role at Insider Louisville, according to Mickey Meece, managing editor, which will require deft editing under pressure, assigning stories and managing contributors — in addition to reporting and writing.

“Caitlin is more than up to the task,” Meece said. “She is a natural at editing, so I know she will excel in this new role at Insider Louisville.”

After graduating from the Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, Bowling got her start at a newspaper in the mountains of North Carolina where she won multiple state awards for her reporting.

Since returning to Louisville, she’s written for Business First and Insider Louisville, has won awards for health and business reporting and has become a go-to source for business news. In addition to restaurants and retail business, Bowling covers real estate, economic development and tourism.
