Christopher McIntosh, the publisher of the Boston Business Journal since 2010, has resigned effective Tuesday.

A story on its website states, “‘We thank Chris for his service to the company for the past four years,’ said Whitney Shaw, president and CEO of American City Business Journals, the parent company of the BBJ. The company has begun a search for a new publisher, Shaw said.”

When McIntosh was hired in 2010, it was a return to the Boston Business Journal, where he worked from 1996 to 2004 as a sales manager and senior advertising consultant, focusing on business-to-business development. He was instrumental in driving the paper to become best in class within the American City Business Journals chain.

He had replaced Michael Olivieri, who became chief revenue officer of the paper’s parent company, American City Business Journals.
