bloomberg_tvAl Mayers, global head of television and radio at Bloomberg Media, sent out the following announcement Friday morning:

I wanted to send a quick note to the team to let you know about some new programming that will begin airing on Bloomberg Television this weekend.

Bloomberg Markets: Middle East is set to launch on Sunday, May 1st at 8:00am Gulf Time (12:00p HK/12:00a ET).

This hour-long program, originating from our new studio in Dubai, will feature breaking and original news from our Bloomberg colleagues produced in our bureaus around the region. It will also serve as a live program to bridge the programming gap between our Asia and EMEA programming. Because of the different work/market week in the region, we’ll be live Sunday through Thursday, with a taped BEST version to air during the time slot on Fridays. During the week we will now broadcast live 24 hours a day — an exceptional feat to meet the needs of our growing global audience.

This program is a global tour de force of cooperation, with producers, technical, managers, anchors and reporters in Asia, EMEA and the U.S. contributing to the launch.

Manus Cranny has temporarily relocated to Dubai (we’ll announce a permanent anchor in Dubai shortly). He’s joined by producers Desley Humphrey and Hussein Slim on the ground. Tracy Alloway will contribute from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Elliot Gotkine will contribute from Tel Aviv. Hong Kong will serve as the home base for additional show producers and a New York-based tech/operations team will support the program.

Please watch and give us feedback as the show launches this week. We are excited to see the program on the air and know it will become a destination for viewers and clients in the Middle East and around the world.
