Bloomberg Television Asia named Angie Lau as lead anchor for its daily morning business news program, which will be re-launched as “First Up with Angie Lau” in February.

“Angie has the perfect blend of deep roots in Asia, a great personality and strong international journalism experience,” said Paul Yurisich, head of news and programming for Bloomberg TV Asia, in a statement. “She will bring a seasoned reporter’s perspective to our First Up viewers as we set the agenda ahead of the trading day and the events shaping business in Asia.”

Lau joins anchor Rishaad Salamat as well as Bloomberg Television’s roster of personalities including Zeb Eckert, Mia Saini, John Dawson and David Ingles in Hong Kong, Stephen Engle in Beijing and Haslinda Amin in Singapore.

Born in Hong Kong, Lau is a multi-award winning journalist with more than 16 years of reporting experience.

She joined Bloomberg Television in Hong Kong from the Chicago bureau where she covered markets and business stories from the Chicago Board of Trade. Prior to joining Bloomberg, she was the consumer reporter and anchor for the ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio.
