Austin Carr

Tom Giles, Bloomberg’s executive editor of global technology, sent out the following announcement on Friday:

We are very excited to welcome Austin Carr to Bloomberg’s Global Technology team.

Austin joins from Fast Company, where he’s worked as a senior features writer covering the intersection of technology and design. In eight years at the magazine, Austin penned many in-depth features and profiles, including his recent cover story on Twitter’s combat against platform abuse and toxicity; a deep dive into Tesla’s controversial acquisition of SolarCity; the inside tale of Amazon’s failed Fire Phone; and an oral history of design at Apple, which he co-reported with our own Max Chafkin when they were colleagues.

Before becoming a journalist, Austin worked as a paralegal, and he holds a degree in English from Columbia University. Austin will join our New York crew on Sept. 4, after he moves back to the city from D.C., where he has lived for the past 2 1/2 years. He will write features and cover breaking news, reporting to Jillian Ward.
