Joanna Sullivan, the editor of the Baltimore Business Journal, writes about how the paper pulled its invitation to an event for its 40 under 40 honorees after one of them sent his twin to the paper’s photo shoot.

Sullivan writes, “I called Brenner to express my outrage and ask him not to attend our 40 Under 40 bash next month. He was a bit baffled by my stance. He reiterated what he said about still loving a prank. He also wanted to see his brother, Dan, get a bit more recognition for his role in the Betamore incubator’s success.

“Besides, he said, such pranks are a part of who he is.

“It’s obviously worked for him so far and will likely keep on working for him. He assured me that those he talked to thought it was funny. I’ll let the readers decide on this one.

“I’m just a stick-in-the-mud newspaper editor who still worries about our readers getting the correct information. The BBJ’s credibility is everything. When we make a mistake, we correct it. And in this case, a mere correction wasn’t enough.”
