AdAge names Dumenco its editorial director

Advertising Age today named Simon Dumenco, a longtime columnist and editor at large, its editorial director in charge of all editorial strategy and operations for its brands, including Ad Age, Creativity and Internet Week.

A story on its website states, “Mr. Dumenco, a longtime Ad Age columnist and editor at large, takes on the role as Associate Publisher Abbey Klaassen departs to join Dentsu Aegis Network as director-corporate development and strategy, Americas.

“At Ad Age, Mr. Dumenco will work closely with the editors and leadership of each brand to enhance coverage, develop new products and events and grow its reach and influence. He will report to VP-Publisher Allison Arden.

“Mr. Dumenco has a diverse background in print and digital media, including serving as consulting executive editor on the launch of O: The Oprah Magazine; editor of Colors, the international culture magazine; launch editor-in-chief of VeryShortList.com; executive editor of Seventeen and launch editor of Seventeen Online; managing editor of Baltimore’s City Paper; and launch editorial director of nymag.com, New York magazine’s website. At New York, he was also business/technology editor, advertising critic and pop-culture columnist, and editor of its National Magazine Award-winning media column. Over the years, he’s written for a wide variety of publications including Condé Nast Traveler, Esquire, Glamour, Rolling Stone and T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and has served as a contributing editor at various titles including Allure and Details.”
