International Business TimesInternational Business Times launched Monday a blog called  Political Capital that explores the intersection of politics and finance.

Political Capital’s content will be anchored by reporting from David Sirota, International Business Times’ award-winning senior investigative reporter, in addition to stories from staff writers.

Political Capital will use political news as the jumping off point for investigations into conflicts of interest confronted by candidates, the revolving door that sees politicians and regulators gain lucrative next lives as lobbyists and the full objectives of the industries that finance campaigns.

In the blog’s launch, Sirota and his team surfaced stories about Chris Christie’s secret email account, how the Democrats’ renewed push to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank puts them at odds with Bernie Sanders and a new report about an SEC probe of one of Jeb Bush’s companies.

“Political Capital is obsessed with exposing the full stories behind the political headlines, with special focus on the moneyed interests seeking to influence policy,” said Peter S. Goodman, global editor in chief of International Business Times, in a statement. “With Sirota anchoring the coverage, our team of reporters will make this a crucial source of intelligence about the real workings of government, politics and finance.”
